The Santa Ynez Valley AYSO All-Stars U14 Girls pose after taking first place in their division at the Central Coast Classic. //Contributed

The Santa Ynez Valley AYSO All-Stars traveled to Arroyo Grande and Nipomo recently for the Central Coast Classic.

The U14 girls took first in their division, while the Santa Ynez U14 boys made the championship game. Due to the heavy rain, that game could not be played. Instead, penalty kicks were used to determine the winner. SLO edged Santa Ynez for that title. The two teams tied 1-1 in early tournament play.

Coming up Saturday and Sunday, Santa Ynez will host the Winter Classic Tournament.

Teams will be traveling from as far as Beverly Hills, Palos Verdes, Pacific Palisades, Van Nuys, Long Beach and Bakersfield to play the local area teams from Santa Ynez, Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Nipomo, Five Cities, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Ventura and Orcutt.

Games are free to the public and will be played at Santa Ynez High (U14 teams), Dunn School (U14 and U12 teams) and SY Elementary (U12 and U10 teams). Schedules and more information can be found at the Santa Ynez AYSO Web site, www.aysosyv.org.
