Santa Ynez’s hot hand carried it to a strong first quarter.
But Cabrillo’s David Terrones carried his Conqs to the victory from there.
In a game that saw Terrones score his 1,000th career point, Santa Ynez could not keep up after a strong first-quarter effort in a 78-42 loss to Cabrillo.
Cabrillo is currently perfect in league play, sitting alone in first.
The Pirates continuously broke the Cabrillo press early. The Pirates hit four 3-pointers in the first quarter en-route to 17 points.
But in the second, the Cabrillo press took effect and Santa Ynez was held without a basket until 3:22 remaining before the half.
Conner Reck led Santa Ynez (0-7 LPL) with 15 points. Bobby Moir had 10.
