Graduation ceremonies have begun

Two private schools kicked off graduation season in the Santa Ynez Valley, with Midland School graduating on Saturday and Dunn School on Sunday.

Within the next week, other Valley schools also will celebrate transitions — either from elementary school to high school or from high school to college, trade schools or straight into the workforce. \

Santa Ynez Valley Union High School has the most activities scheduled around graduation, starting tonight with Senior Grad Night, a field trip to Disneyland.

The students will return Friday for Senior Breakfast at the Santa Ynez Park and Ditch Day, an approved holiday for seniors only.

Baccalaureate will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday at Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church, 1825 Alamo Pintado Road. Baccalaureate is a time to recognize, in a formal manner, the achievements of the students.

Graduation for the high school will be at 4 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the football field on campus. Seniors need to be in the New Gym by 3 p.m.

Refugio High School will have its ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Friday June 12, in the Little Theater.

Family School in Los Olivos graduation is today at 5 p.m.

College School District and Solvang Elementary School graduations will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, with College taking place at the Upper Campus and Solvang’s in the gym.

Los Olivos Elementary School will have its graduation at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, in the gym.

Buellton Union School District graduation will be at 7 p.m. Thursday June 11, with a slide show of the 70 graduates starting at 6:30 p.m. in the New Gym.
