Dear Santa: How is Rudolph? Kids want games, toys, dolls — and help for others

In keeping with our annual tradition, we’ve offered local children a forum for their letters to Santa Claus as Christmas approaches. We’re sure the jolly old elf is a regular reader of the Valley News, but we also forwarded them to his workshop at the North Pole so he could read them before Christmas.

The following messages are from Linda Mayer’s third-grade class at Santa Ynez Valley Charter School and Alison Acosta’s first-graders at Solvang School, complete with the children’s occasionally creative spellings and punctuation.

Dear Santa, I’ve been thinking about the fire victims that lost their homes. Could you get food and clothes for the poor? Can you get some presents for kids that don’t get any? I want our soldiers to come home to America for Christmas. I want good socks that fit me. Can I have some baseball cards and a wii? I also want a remote control helicopter or car. I also want a marble shoot that has loops and hills and drops. I don’t want every thing I asked for. Can you make my dad stay home more? I also want some front row Dodger tickets. Can I have a signed ball with all of the Dodgers names? My brother wants a work jacket.

How are you? How are the raindeer? This is what I want for poor people medicne, money, to help the sick, and clothes, food for the poor. This is want for my Christmas: a horse, dog, toys, cars, for a good Christmas, and for my noni and popi to come and get home safely too, and a diary I hope you have a great Christmas. I would like to have a wii, ipod some new Nintendo ds games, wallet, fish, Indian rocks, gold, Indian stuf, and to see Barkly my old puppy.

Dear Santa, How are you and Mrs. Claus and the reindeers? You are going to be busy filling stocking and giving presents to people. I was going to tell you what I wanted to have for Christmas is odd, acuatully really odd. What I wanted for Christmas is a saltwater tank a saltwater puffer fish and a saltwater starfish and a saltwater blue lobster. I also want all the Bakugon you can get me. I also want a webkinz polar bear and a webkinz Turtle and I also want a good grade in school and I also want much more but it will take too long to explain. If you do all this Santa this Christmas will be the best ! Please give the poor shelter and clothes and happieness! Make the soldiers come home safely!
