Hollywood has landed in Santa Ynez again for the filming of “A View from Here,” a Hallmark Channel television movie starring Golden Globe-winning actress Angie Dickinson.
The movie is filming in several locations throughout Santa Ynez, and the production crew is offering a chance for people to appear as “extras” if they come Thursday morning to the Maverick Saloon at 3687 Sagunto St. in Santa Ynez.
“We are opening early to let people come down and be apart of the movie,” said Mark Burnett, owner of the Maverick Saloon. “There are people wanted for dancing, or just sitting at tables having drinks. It should be a great time and a good way to market the Valley.”
Burnett said that his business is listed in movie industry literature for Western-type filming, and he was excited when the producers were interested in shooting at his bar.
The movie also filmed Monday at the Roasted Bean and is scheduled today to shoot at the Longhorn Cafe. It continues filming Thursday at the Maverick, starting at 8 a.m., for a dance-hall scene.
Dickinson was a television star with her role as Sergeant Leann “Pepper” Anderson in the 1970s crime drama “Police Woman,” for which she won two Golden Globe awards and multiple Emmy nominations.
She gained her first television fame in the TV series “The Millionaire” in 1955 and got her big break in films opposite John Wayne and Dean Martin in “Rio Bravo” in 1959.
She has continued to work in film and television ever since, including the 2000 film “Pay it Forward” and the television show “Judging Amy” in 2004.
For more information on being an extra in the film, call the Maverick Saloon at 686-4785 or show up early Thursday.
