War wasteful on many levels
How much more heartache must we endure? Congress continues to fund the war, even though there is evidence that Bush and his subordinates used deceit for attacking and occupying Iraq.
"Incorrect information," says the White House, but now we know lies were used. And the terrorist threat is greater than ever, with a growing Al-Qaida, attacking at will.
Why does this administration seem to have such power over the people? Why do we let them get away with one violation of the Constitution after another? Rules of the Geneva Convention have meant nothing.
Do you remember when millions of Americans around the country protested the attack of Iraq? It didn't make any difference. Cindy Sheehan was right to ask, “What was the noble cause my son died for?”
When Dick Cheney was recently reminded that the majority of Americans want the war to stop, he replied, "So?" — a clear disregard for the will of the people. Isn't this an impeachable offense? In fact, articles of impeachment have been brought against him and Bush, not only for lying to get us into this war, but for other failures to uphold democratic principals.
If the intent for war was about oil, it sure backfired — the cost of oil is so high now it is putting the world in crisis.
Osama bin Laden's goal was not to defeat the U.S. militarily, but to bankrupt us. With our country borrowing extraordinary amounts of money to finance the war — $275 million every day — he may well get his wish.
And the deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan continue, with the Middle East in more
chaos than ever. What a horrific waste of lives and money.
We have had enough suffering from lies, corruption, and deceit with no accountability.
