Bringing art to everyone
I could not have hoped for a more fitting and exquisite introduction of Marta Becket to the Santa Ynez Valley community.
The screening of “Amargosa” at the Park Plaza Theatre received a warm and passionate welcome by a wonderful audience, including numerous individuals who were discovering her incredible accomplishments for the first time, and many others who were familiar with her passion for her art, but never had the opportunity to witness this documentary.
It was an amazing morning of art at its best. As I have been inspired by Ms. Becket for nearly 20 years, it was incredible to have the opportunity to introduce her to the community who has supported our endeavors with the SYV Performing Arts Co., and who understand the benefit and importance of art.
I hope everyone left inspired and uplifted by this documentary, with the drive to follow their own dream or passion.
I wish to express my gratitude to Todd Robinson, Kenneth Carlson and Sidney Sherman for donating to allow us such an exquisite beginning to our long-term endeavor.
Most sincere appreciation to the Gran family for donating the theatre, and making this event possible.
Heartfelt thanks to Pamela Dozois for introducing Ms. Becket to the community so gracefully, and for her continuous devotion to the arts.
Thanks to Leonard Kelsey and Aina Balgalvis for their incredible assistance with the poster, to Nancy Pahler and the staff of the theatre for their assistance the day of the event.
Thanks to the donors who generously contributed to the Museum Fund even though they were unable to attend the screening. Your desire to help is marvelous.
Ms. Becket joins me in thanking all parties involved in this endeavor, and creating a beautiful circle of life, bringing many passionate people together.
