Valley teens to host Croatian students
For the Valley News
Beginning Wednesday, Teens Working Together (TWT), the student chapter of People to People International (PTPI) at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School, will host 12 Croatian high school students and their two adult advisors.
It will be the first time that such a student group from Croatia has traveled to the U.S., and the trip required the permission of their government and school.
They will be staying with several Valley families, and are traveling to the U.S. solely to visit with the TWT group. While here, they will participate in a community-service project with TWT members (expected to be a beach clean-up), and spend time learning about the Central Coast area. A quick trip to Disneyland is also planned.
Mary Eisenhower, the CEO and president of PTPI, is flying out to greet them when they arrive in Solvang. Jewelee Cox, director of membership and homestays for PTPI, will also be flying out from Kansas City (the international headquarters of PTPI) to meet with the homestay families and to attend the reception dinner scheduled for Wednesday night in the Solvang Veterans Memorial Building.
The group will be here through Sunday.
